Make-Up Course

WBI’s makeup course objective is to prepare students to become professional makeup artists. With WBI’S makeup certificate you can choose any field from working independently, working in retail cosmetics and in the bridal industry. Not only will the course provide the students with the proper training and education so they can begin a career in makeup artistry but they will also learn proper makeup artistry etiquette. Students will develop makeup skills in all aspects of beauty. The course will provide a blending of hands on practice and lecture to train for real world experiences.

Course Description

Our course is designed to provide the training whether you choose the television, film, photography, fashion, retail cosmetics or bridal industry.  Our instructors have many years experience in various different makeup fields that will address each students needs.  We teach techniques that are consistent and always up to date with the latest trends. You may even expand your creativity by taking other courses that we offer. Throughout the course the student will learn how to build their professional makeup portfolio and how to market themselves. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a makeup artistry certificate.

Week 1 Introduction to the course and to the makeup industry. Get familiar with the makeup kit, brushes, and learn their functions. Basic sanitation practices will be covered. Learn to analyze different skin types, tones and foundation application. Identify face shapes, contour and highlight to enhance facial features for photography and TV. Learn natural makeup application.

Week 2 Emphasis on eyebrows. The objective is to develop the proper technique and placement for a natural and balanced brow. Identify different eye shapes, practice eye shadow, eye liner, and eye lash application, as well as lip and cheek. The lesson will provide makeup techniques for fashion, glamour, high definition, and editorial.

Week 3 Bridal and different special occasion makeup will be covered. We teach the business aspects of the bridal industry. The student will learn about the appropriate products and techniques for mature skin. Makeup application for men will be covered.

Week 4 Learn to market yourself, build a professional makeup portfolio and create makeup service contracts. Recap on all the class. Finally, in this session you will step outside the box and create your own inspired makeup look.
